Access to affordable healthcare is vital to women’s health and welfare and we know when it comes to health care decisions in the family, women lead the way. These decisions include health insurance coverage, preventative, primary and specialty care, childcare and senior care.
As of early 2023, Colorado had approximately 1.7 million people enrolled in Medicaid/CHIP (CHP+). 35% of births were covered by Medicaid and CHIP income eligibility level for pregnant women is 265%. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the disparities in healthcare access, distribution of information and education, and policy actions in response to the corona virus.
