HEALTH CARE
Access to affordable healthcare is vital to women’s health and welfare and we know that when it comes to health care decisions in the family, women lead the way. These decisions include health insurance coverage, preventative, primary and specialty care, childcare and senior care. In Colorado 45% of births were covered by Medicaid and CHIP income eligibility level for pregnant women is 265%. The COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the disparities in healthcare access, distribution of information and education and policy actions in response to the corona virus.
The Latina Initiative mobilizes women to fight for access to affordable healthcare, long term care for the elderly and quality childcare and paid family leave policies.
